EVgo Expands Fast Charging Network Across US Shopping Centers

Instructions

EVgo, a leading electric vehicle (EV) charging network, is significantly expanding its infrastructure by deploying hundreds of new fast chargers in retail locations across the United States. This strategic initiative aims to seamlessly integrate EV charging into the daily routines of American consumers, making it more convenient to power up their vehicles while they shop, dine, or run errands.

Powering Progress: EV Charging Meets Everyday Convenience

Revolutionizing EV Charging Accessibility in Retail Spaces

EVgo is poised to add over 500 direct current (DC) fast-charging stalls at various shopping centers throughout the US. This expansion is a game-changer for electric vehicle drivers, offering them enhanced opportunities to charge their cars while attending to their shopping lists, enjoying a meal, or handling other daily tasks.

Strategic Partnership with Brixmor Property Group for Widespread Deployment

The new charging stations will be installed at properties managed by Brixmor Property Group, a major owner of open-air neighborhood shopping centers. These centers are typically anchored by large retailers such as supermarkets or discount stores, making them ideal locations for accessible EV charging. Brixmor boasts a portfolio of 346 such properties across 29 states, featuring prominent tenants like Kroger, Publix, TJ Maxx, and Ross Stores.

Extensive Coverage: Over a Quarter of Brixmor's Portfolio to Host EVgo Chargers

Upon the successful completion of this extensive rollout, more than 90 Brixmor shopping centers, representing over a quarter of their total portfolio, will be equipped with EVgo's fast chargers. The new installations are planned for key states including Florida, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Texas, broadening EVgo's footprint significantly.

Phased Implementation: Kicking Off with Barn Plaza in Doylestown

The deployment of these new charging stations is scheduled to commence later this year. The inaugural site for this expansion is planned for Barn Plaza in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, approximately 30 miles north of Philadelphia. This particular center is a vibrant retail hub, featuring a Whole Foods Market alongside popular establishments like Barnes & Noble, Pottery Barn, and Shake Shack.

Advanced Charging Capabilities and Future Disclosures

Each new Brixmor location will host up to 12 EVgo DC fast chargers. While specific details regarding charging speeds and a comprehensive list of all participating shopping centers are yet to be unveiled, this expansion underscores EVgo's commitment to robust and reliable charging solutions.

Enhancing Driver Convenience: Charging Integrated with Lifestyle

Scott Levitan, executive vice president of growth at EVgo, emphasized the company's focus on integrating charging infrastructure seamlessly into drivers' daily routines. He highlighted that shopping centers provide an ideal environment for drivers to utilize the 20 to 30 minutes typically required for a fast charge, allowing them to browse, eat, or shop productively.

Building on a Successful Foundation: A Long-Standing Partnership

The collaboration between EVgo and Brixmor is not new; EVgo first introduced chargers at a Brixmor shopping center in Pleasanton, California, back in 2016. This long-standing partnership has laid the groundwork for the current, much larger expansion, demonstrating a proven model for successful EV infrastructure deployment in retail settings.
